occuring naturally . It should be well fleshed and
muscular. The tail is short reaching half way to
the hock and should be visible above the back when
the cat is alert. It has a modified wedge shaped head
with almond shaped eyes. Bobtails come in both
shorthaired and long haired varities. The coat is best
described as shaggy with a dense undercoat.
The American Bobtail has a unique personality.
They learn very quickly. Many will play fetch for
hours, and will come when called. They are not an
overactive cat. The adults will play and act like kittens
well into their adult years. They will wag their short tail
and talk to you with little meows and chirps.
The females are great mothers, very gentle and patient
with their babies. The males are very self assured,
confident and laid back. They will meet your guests at
the door with great interest.
Once you own a Bobtail no other cat will do.
